Objectives
The courses aims to provide students with the necessary competencies to be able to operate as an autonomous clinical psychologist. The course provides:

• Instruction on the theories, methods, techniques and dynamics of clinical psychology including its evolutionary and social components and epistemological foundations
• Training in the main types of clinical therapies directed towards individuals, couples, families, groups and organizations
• Comprehensive grounding in operational tools that distinguish each type of therapy and a knowledge of the issues and ethics involved in the work of a clinical psychologist
• The ability to work in the field providing evaluations, diagnosis, preliminary overviews and consultancy
• The ability to assess the quality and efficiency of previous evaluations of a patient
• A written and oral proficiency in English or another EU language apart from Italian.

Career opportunities
The degree course aims to produce a professional figure characterised by:

• The ability to evaluate, diagnose, prevent and counsel within various settings of psychological difficulty, such as work with individuals, couples, families and groups
• The ability to provide clinical advice in health related matters (such as cardio-circulatory disease, Alzheimer, tumour counselling, genetic illness, etc.). They will also be able to advise on matters related to personal and family life (couple counselling, child-birth, estrangement from children, separation and divorce, the ageing process, grief counselling and adoption and foster care advice). They will have the skills to offer advice in legal situations
• Skills pertaining to consultancy work in both family and inter-racial mediation.

Degree holders can work as clinical psychologists in local health authorities, family practices, family mediation centres, psychology clinics, legal institutions. They will also be able to operate as certified clinical psychologists.

Traineeships
The degree courses offered by the Faculty include training activities linked to students' learning processes and their theses. Traineeships involve collaboration between the University and various host bodies, both with the same formative and vocational training aims and following the same study plans (with the aid of tutors and supervising teaching staff) and with the same final objective.
Training is offered in cooperation with public bodies, companies, service industries, institutions, and in Public Administration structures at both a national and international level.
To back up such traineeships the Faculty offers a tutoring service carried out by the following: a tutor co-ordinator (who deals with the relations between study activities linked to traineeships and the curricular activities covered by the Degree Course), a co-ordinator of relationships between the Faculty and the territory (this person deals with the agreements made with public bodies and conventions with various organizations, and the agreed collaboration as regards research and training), tutors (who work closely with the supervising teaching staff and advise trainees on writing reports concerning their experiences.

International relations
The Faculty also collaborates with projects and arranges international exchanges with the Universities of Barcelona, Perpignan, Geneva, Freiburg ...
