Summer Business Program (Missouri)

Area bacheca: 822&

Since the academic year 2001/02, the Department of Management, Economics and Quantitative Methods (before as Faculty of Economics and Business Administration) together with the University of Missouri - Columbia, has organized English courses related to the Summer Business Program; each university organizes 4 courses given by lecturers of their respective faculties. Eighty students coming from the University of Missouri - Columbia spend four weeks at the University of Bergamo which, in turns, selects 80 participants among its students; this enables to form 8 classes of 40 students each (20 American students and 20 students from the University of Bergamo). All courses take place approximately between mid May and mid June at the University campus located in via dei Caniana in Bergamo.
The Summer Business Program is revised every year. As a consequence, the training program may change. For the a.y. 2012/13 the program is designed as follows:

  • University of Bergamo courses:
    1. Banking and Insurance Companies
    2. International Business
    3. International Marketing
    4. Managing Product and Brand Innovation
  • Missouri University courses:
    1. International Finance
    2. Project Management
    3. Special Topics in Marketing
    4. Topics in International Business

Please note that these courses are structured by individual teachers with different teaching methods that include classroom lectures, working groups, field research, interviews.
Participation is limited, on equal terms, to 2nd and 3rd year students enrolled in first level degree courses and to Erasmus students ot the Department of Management, Economics and Quantitative Methods at the University of Bergamo. According to availability, students have to choose two courses among those planned as follows:

  • one course among those given by lecturers of the University of Bergamo
  • one course among those given by lecturers of the Missouri University.

20 is the maximum number of students of the University of Bergamo approved for each course; a good knowledge of the English language is required. To this purpose, an interview or a language test may be required to assess the degree of knowledge.
Applicants must submit an application in response to the notice of selection that will be published approximately in December-January.
