The scientific Journal Savings and Development, with its supplement, African Review of Money Finance and Banking, was created in 1977 by the Finafrica Foundation (now Giordano dell'Amore Foundation) with the aim to spread knowledge in the field of Finance and Development. The Journal, for 30 years, has been voicing several researchers from Countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America and its distribution is at an international level.

In 2007, the management and publication of the Journal passes to the University of Bergamo and the Bergamo University Press becomes the new publisher.

The Journal is part of the University Research Group in "Finance and Development".

The University aims at strengthening the role of the Journal through a renewal in the style and the contents. Moreover, the University aspires to the highest scientific standards through a group of qualified international referees.
