Degree

The First Level Degree is conferred after three academic years, having gained a total of 180 cfu/ECTS credits (60 for each year) by passing the exams required by the study plan.

Admission

Admission to Italian Universities is possible only if the student holds a Diploma di Maturità ("A" Levels/Higher School Certificate) gained after 5 years at a high school.
Enrolment in the Faculty of Engineering depends on an Entrance Test (September). The testing is done in the same way and at the same time as most other Faculties of Engineering in Italy. Tests are aimed at orientation and self-evaluation, and consist of questions relating to four areas of interest: Logic, Oral Comprehension, Mathematics, and Science (Physics and Chemistry).

Entry tests

Students enrolled in the first year of their course are required to have reached a level of proficiency in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Each year, entry tests are held in September.

Bridging Courses

During the few weeks following Entrance Testing, the Faculty of Engineering will organise bridging courses in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Computer Programming for students whose results show a lack of skills in those subjects.

Foreign Language Tests

The level required by the Faculty of Engineering is the Threshold Level established by the Council of Europe which corresponds to Level B1 of the Framework of Reference. Language skills are tested to verify the student's level at entry. For English and French, students are tested within the University, unless the student can provide a certificate proving that they have already passed the following tests:

  • PET (Preliminary English test), FCE (First Certificate of English), CAE (Certificate of Advanced English), CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), BEC (Business English Certificate), all through UCLES, University of Cambridge, or Trinity College London ISE I, II, III
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) through ETS, Princeton University, with a minimum score of 500 (written paper) or 173 (computer version)
  • CEFP2 (Certificat d'études de français pratique, level 2), DELF (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française) level 1 and 2, DALF (Diplôme Avancé de Langue Française)
  • ZF (Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache), ZDfB (Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf), ZMP (Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung), KDS (Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom) through the Goethe-Institut
  • DELE Superior (Diploma de Español como Lengua Etranjera), CIE (Certificado Initial de Español), DBE (Diploma Bàsico de Español), DSE (Diploma Superior de Español) through the Istituto Cervantes.

Self-tests

Students can also take the relevant on-line self-test.
