The Department of Human and Social Sciences was introduced in 2001 (as Faculty of Arts and Philosophy) after the splitting up of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures. It started with two degree courses: one in Educational Studies, and one in General Arts (now c/o the Departments of Arts and Phylosophy). New objectives have been achieved with the introduction of the course in Psychology (Psychological Studies and Techniques for Interpersonal Relationships and Social Organizations) and of the Second level degree courses: Pedagogical Consultancy and Behavioural Research; Theory, Techniques and Management in the Arts and Entertainment (now c/o the Departments of Arts and Phylosophy).
From the start the courses were very popular numbering 1,874 students, increased to 4,000 (Academic Year 2005/2006).
