The MatNet Centre for teaching in Mathematics and its Applications was set up by the Department of Management, Economics and Quantitative Methods. Its aim is to develop relationships between schools and universities in the study of teaching methods that promote mathematical thought in both milieu and to promote partnerships among High Schools and University.

The Centre is designed as a laboratory where:

• Themes inherent to the teaching of mathematics can be discussed in order to develop tools that are in line with students' cognitive demands and with advances in technology
• Different regional bodies can exchange ideas, bring together common tools and project relationships
• Interactive tools are available on line that can be used both by schools and by universities
• Meetings, seminars and conferences are organised so that participants can share innovative ideas on common themes
• Consultation services are offered to schools on how to introduce new technologies to the teaching of mathematics.
