    studying?

    This office, in collaboration with the heads of the high schools, aims at helping school-leaving students in their choice of University studies. In particular:

    • it supplies material and up-to-date information for the Careers Guide
    • it periodically updates the website page on the Careers Guide
    • it annually organizes Open Days at the University where the courses are explained in collaboration with the Faculty teachers
    • meetings are organized in the local schools to help students in their choice of studies
    • it organizes the University's presence at "Student Fairs", workshops and suchlike on a national level
    • it promotes collaboration between schools, education authorities, local administration, the Industrialists Association and the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce
    • it operates a free psychological guidance service both for its own students and those in the last two years of high school.

    There is also an agreement between the University and the Provincial Education Office to co-ordinate student guidance information.

    University reform in 1999 introduced the concept of work experience/traineeships as a fundamental part of training for a career. This ensures that the academic world and the world of work can work together to offer training which takes into account the needs of the job market and those of the student/graduate who can become the agent of innovative projects which are an important resource for businesses and organizations.

    Foreign exchange students may use this work experience/traineeship service only if it is an integral part of their study programme and is expressly required by their own University/Institution.
