In order to improve the services offered to
students, in the Academic Year 2006/2007 the University decided to introduce the Faculty of Human
Sciences (now Department of Letters and Philosophy).
Alongside social and natural sciences, the Humanities are regarded as one of the cornerstones of human
knowledge; the role they encopass is fundamental to contemporary culture, especially in Europe. The
Humanities cover a wide range of disciplines.
