Discontinuous Galerkin MethodsFrom Theoretical Development to Industrial ApplicationsDiscontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods belong to a class of finite elements methods which use completely discontinuous trial and test functions. Thanks to their flexibility, DG methods are currently receiving increasing attention by researchers in a wide variety of areas of practical interest such as fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, electromagnetism, among many others. A wide community is active on both theoretical and numerical development of DG methods for various types of partial differential equations, including hyperbolic, parabolic and elliptic equations, and applications range from purely academic to industrial problems. The aim of this one-day workshop was to offer an informal opportunity of encounter to both engineers and mathematicians who work on development and application of DG methods. The workshop included lectures by some of the most prominent scientists in the field and short contribution sessions open to the participants. The workshop took place on the 24th of February, 2006, at the University of Bergamo, via Salvecchio 19. Send any comments or questions about this document to: andrea.crivellini@unibg.it |
