Cristina Grasseni's research focuses on visual apprenticeship as a form of relational and situated learning, and on communities of practice, especially in the realm of alternative economies and local development.

  Cristina Grasseni received her Bachelor's degree in philosophy, an M.Phil. in History and Philosophy of Science, and a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology with Visual Media from the universities of Pavia, Cambridge, and Manchester, respectively. Her work has been supported by the Cambridge European Trust, Collegio Ghislieri, the Economic and Social Research Council (UK), and the Max-Planck-Institut fur Wissenschaftsgeschichte. She was scientific coordinator of the Fondazione Giannino Bassetti for responsible innovation (www.fondazionebassetti.org), 2006-2011.
  She is Visiting Scholar at Harvard University's Department of Anthropology (2012/2013) and was Visiting Professor at the universities of Agder, Barcelona, and Tromso.
  In 2011/2012, she was the David and Roberta Logie Fellow and Film Study Center Fellow at Harvard University's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
