To be accepted as Incoming ERASMUS/Exchange students is highly recommended to submit a copy of an official certificate stating the level of Italian competence since the courses are mainly taught in Italian.

 The minimum recommended Language Level  for Incoming/Exchange students in the framework of the ERASMUS programme is:

  • A2/B1 for the attendance of courses held in Italian 
  • B1 for the attendance of courses held in English

(levels refer to the  Common European Language  Framework -  CEFR)


The General Italian Language Courses are organized each semester at CIS ( Centro Italiano per Stranieri)   to let students improve their language competences.  Different levels ( A2- B1-B2 –C1-c2) will be available . For this reason, at the beginning of the semester a Placement Test  is held in order to check the Italian Proficiency.

Incoming Erasmus/Exchange Students in the framework of the ERASMUS programme can enroll in the General Italian Language Course  by completing  an APPLICATION FORM for the GENERAL ITALIAN LANGUAGE  COURSE to be sent  by email to the International Office.

The courses are free of charge.

The General Italian Language Courses (description on the right box) can be added in the learning Agreement therefore at the end of each semester students are required to  take the final exam to get 5 credits. The credits will be registered in the final Transcript of records. In addition, special courses ( cultura italiana- linguaggio economico- scrittura) allow students to get 3 credits.

The courses will be held on the premises of the University.

Moreover, Intensive Italian Language courses (description on the right box)  are offered before the beginning of each semester. They last one/two weeks.

No credits will be assigned because they are  Preparatory Courses. they are not mandatory but highly recommended. Students can submit the  APPLICATION FORM for the INTENSIVE ITALIAN COURSE to be sent by email to the International Office.

Timetable will be defined in September.


The CCL  (Centro Competenza Lingue/University Language Center)  is an inter-department centre providing services for  learning and improving foreign  Language courses in English, German, Spanish, French; Chinese, Russian, Japanese. 

The language courses are offered  at different levels and  take place in different University departments according to students' proficiency level and your Department .

Language Courses must be added in the Learning Agreement.
