Systematic use of e-mail, web navigation, social networking, and mobile communication; willingness to keep in touch on a professional level through social networks and/or e-learning platforms. Recognizing the technical nature of web navigation: basic understanding of operating systems, communication protocols among computers, and the html.
After completing this module, students will know how the network model may represent and help manage the links among digital entities and the relationships among businesses and consumers.
Furthermore, students will be aware of how fast and deeply disruptive technologies have impacted - and will impact - the tourism field and its business models.
Lastly, students will learn how to rely on solid scientific models to evaluate the quality of destinations' network and mobile communication: to which extent it is consistent with its sustainability, promotion, and commercialization, and the integration among actors.
Consistency with the overall objectives of the degree course mainly involves the INF/01 area and the ICT, specifically entailing the notions of destination, sustainability, local government, and the opportunities provided by digital technologies.

Presentations displayed during each lecture, made available on line by the lecturer.
Lectures, based on specially prepared presentations and analyses of relevant websites and social networking platforms. The class management includes comments and objections from students.
Group activities where the quality of a Destination Management Organization's web presence is discussed and evaluated.
Presentations and lists of relevant links, are made available online. Online communication with students is maintained through the University of Bergamo e-mail opportunities and/or an e-learning platform.
Competence is assessed through a written test, with a closed-ended questionnaire to be completed in 90 minutes about the issues introduced in the module. Each answer must be briefly commented in writing. Correct answers to at least 9 of the 15 questions are required.
Moreover, students are requested to participate in group activities where the quality of a Destination Management Organization's web presence is discussed and evaluated.
Groups present in public their evaluations – each student individually speaking – during the last part of the module itself. Each group provides a collective written report on conclusions agreed on, to be delivered to the lecturer in pdf format.
Compliance with the evaluation models introduced, indipendent judgment and an objective style are essential components to assess whether group activities meet the standard.
Completion of the written questionnaire accounts for 40% of the assessment, and so does individual participation in the group activities. Correct English spelling, grammar and syntax in the public presentation and the written report do so for the remaining 20%.
Students who can't attend group activities should perform their evaluations individually, and keep in touch with the lecturer to agree on when and where they will present their work.
Special programs should be agreed with students from Master Courses in European and Pan-American Languages and Literatures.
