Knowledge of German Language equal to level B2+ (for LM I) or C1 (for LM II).
At the end of the course students have deepened and improved their translation skills and competences in the four communication skills of the European Framework of Reference: at C1 level for LM I, at C1+ level (writing and oral production) and at C2 level (oral and written comprehension) for LM II.
At the metalinguistic and disciplinary level, at the end of the first semester students will have acquired the methodological approaches for the linguistic analysis of literary texts, also from a translator's point of view, with particular reference to linguistic variation and the pragmatic and idiomatic sphere of German.
During the course we will examine phenomena of linguistic and register variation as well as the use of modal expressions and the respective challenges for interlingual transposition. The analysis of literary texts, which regularly includes the comparison between source text and translation, will focus on modern and contemporary German. LM II: seminar on specific topics of phraseology and modality.
The contents of the AAL level C1 (German language LM I) and C1+/C2 (German language LM II) are indicated analytically on the website of the Language Competence Centre of the University in the German section.
