Educational goals

At the end of the course, the students will have improved their competences at a C1/C2 level for French language LM2 (European Framework of Reference). Moreover, the students will have acquired critical skills about the intertextual analysis of written texts.

Course content

Quoting the Other.
This module centres on citation, which, among intertextual practices, stands out for its pervasiveness both in spoken and in written language, and about which the theoretical debate is particularly rich in the French context. The analysis of various examples, mainly but not exclusively taken from the cultural press, will prove that citation, by inscribing alterity in discours, constitutes a category of enunciation.
Contents will be also discussed in a teaching perspective, so as to provide opportunities for further analyses.

Teaching methods

Lectures, with focus also on interactive dialogue with the students. During the year, students may be required individual or group works that contribute to the final evaluation. Language activities (see Language Competence Centre).

Assessment and Evaluation

The exam on the module consists of an oral test. Students are required to answer questions concerning the module subject extensively covered on the books' list provided. During the year, students may be required individual or group works that contribute to the final evaluation. In order to take the oral test, students must have passed written tests concerning writing skills. The written tests are organized as follows:
- LM I, 10 CFU: thème littéraire (literary translation from italian to french) + version littéraire (literary translation from french to italian).
- LM II, 5 CFU: thème littéraire (literary translation from italian to french) + compte rendu écrit à partir d'une vidéo.

The students are invited to consult the specific web pages on the CCL site.
